Cay S. Horstmann

Cay invented Violet! He grew up in Northern Germany and attended the Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel, a harbor town at the Baltic sea. He received a M.S. in computer science from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He now teaches computer science at San Jose State University . In his copious spare time, he writes books and articles on Java and consults on internet programming.

Alexandre de Pellegrin

Alexandre is the author of Violet UML Editor Plugin for Eclipse and the main contributor to the lastest Violet versions. He lives in France, near Paris. He graduated in electrical and computer engineering. He started programming on his first computer (on a poor CPC 464!!!), playing with Basic, then Pascal, Intel Assembly, a little bit of C and Perl, some PHP. He switched to Java in 2001 while he was working as technical project manager on a large project based on the WebMethods framework. He currently works as 'web development leader' at the ESSEC Business School.
